We've now begun work on this as part of a
big
change that you'll hopefully love. It's a chunky one so I can't give any timelines yet, but it's our top priority, so just know this is coming down the chute and will hopefully be what you need and a lot more.Ren Pahingalo

Hi! Please let us know if we can provide further assistance.

Ren Pahingalo I see that my suggestion is in a "planned" stage. Any idea of when this might be implemented? This lack of functionality actually stopped me from using Lex a while back and I moved on to other document writing programs. Hopefully I'll be able to try out this feature in Lex in the near future. Thanks!

Hey Viktor, thanks for flagging this again. We've begun work on this already as part of a big change we're working on, from reading this thread I think you're really going to like it. Will update here (and we'll be shouting about it
a lot
when it's ready for release, and will follow our normal procedure of testing with Lex Pro users before rolling it out to all once we're confident it's working as expected.Nathan B
Hey! Old versions are meant to be there to sort of capture a snapshot of the document as it exists in a moment in time. I'm curious what you were hoping to accomplish? We're thinking about doing more with versions and would love to hear more about where you're coming from!

Nathan B: Hi Nathan! Thanks for following up.
Basically, I wanted to treat the old versions of the document as if they were two separate documents with variations in the writing. I'm primarily using LEX for creative writing, so let's imagine I have two drafts of the same paragraph and I want to see which one flows better with the other paragraphs around it. Instead of having two versions of the same paragraph within the same document, I was hoping I could treat them as separate drafts. I thought it would be convenient to switch between the two versions for reading and editing to test out different approaches to the writing.
To illustrate, I was initially treating it like a duplicate document, but I was excited at the prospect of easily switching between the two versions. I understand that I could create two entirely separate documents, but that would mean going through the main menu for each document (or keeping two tabs open). With the version feature, I was hoping to read and edit them separately, essentially experimenting with two different writing approaches.
Let me know if that might be possible in the future!

Viktor L: ahhh yes I totally get where you’re coming from and we want to build something to support this soon!
