Hi! Starting about three days ago, the animations in Lex (say, when you click to open the Ask Lex sidebar) have become really slow. I was showing some features today at work, and everything was *very* slow. My Chrome is up-to-date.

Thanks Federico!

Oh dear sorry about this Federico! Everything seems as quick as normal on my side and I'm not sure what would have caused that, so it's a hard one to pinpoint what's going on there.
I've noticed that if you're within a link in your doc then that's super laggy, was a new feature we shipped to show some buttons around but it's caused issues and needs investigating. Maybe could be related?
If not if you're able to send a screen recording showing what you're seeing that would be super useful!

Fred Rivett Thanks! I planned to send you a video from computer #2, but it turns out that computer #2 is working fine. The animations are quick and smooth. I need to get back to computer #1 (which is a more powerful machine) to send you the video. I did check earlier, and the animations did look slow and choppy. It's unusual. Thanks for your reply.

Fred Rivett Hi! Here's the video. The animation that's particularly slow is the one for the Ask Lex sidebar. Hmm. Now I can't attach it here… Time for workarounds. Here's a WeTransfer link (expires in 3 days): https://we.tl/t-NLfR3uGL4y

Very interetsing, thanks for this Federico! Might be due to the amount of prompts you've got there, or maybe how many Ask Lex threads in the history, is this happening in all docs? If so won't be the number of threads in the history. Do you know how many saved prompts you've got active? It's more than fits on the recording so I'm intrigued if that might be affecting it.

Fred Rivett Thanks, Fred! This is indeed happening in all docs on this computer. There are 20 visible elements in the prompt list when I open Ask Lex: 14 are mine and 6 are Lex defaults. When I open this same sidebar on that other computer, this doesn't seem to affect the animation though. I honestly hadn't thought that the number of prompts could affect performance!

Yeah I'm not sure what's causing the issue here Federico so just thinking about differences between what you're seeing and what I'm seeing and number of prompts crossed my mind.
So this is only happening on one computer but is fine on the other? and only recently started happening on this computer and was fine before?
Appreciate the info, will be useful to narrow down the issue!

Fred Rivett Thanks, Fred! Yes, it's only happening on one computer (but it's the one I use the most!). And it was fine before; it started looking like this just a few days ago.

Federico Super strange, does it happen in incognito mode in the same browser, or does it happen in all browsers?
Just trying to work out if somehow something has gotten synced locally that's causing an issue (but no idea why it would have).

Fred Rivett I tried it in incognito mode. Same thing at first, but I kept clicking to open the sidebar… and after several repeats of rapid-fire clicking the animation went back to normal. So I returned to the regular window (on Chrome) and the same thing happened: if I click repeatedly on the icon, to open and close the sidebar about four times, the animation starts functioning normally. (I just checked, and the clicking has to be done every time I open a document.)

Federico E: Super strange, must be doing a lot on load. Is there any logs in the browser console? No worries if you aren’t sure where to look, I can try to investigate, just hard if I can’t reproduce the issue but I can try!

Fred Rivett Hi again! Here's the console browser log after I opened a document and got the slow animation twice. Hope this helps!
