Enable folding list items like headers

: After discussion the TL;DR here is that it would be great to be able to fold list items (e.g. fold a second level list item and all third/fourth/fifth items are hidden below) by clicking an arrow on the left of the bullet item, like there is for headers.---

Headings not working on tabbed lines
Hey Lex team! First let me say THANK YOU SO MUCH for your positive responses to my lengthy post a couple weeks ago. It seems you understood it was coming from a place of love for developers (and artists, which you all definitely are). You all made some amazing changes that already make the app 10x more fluid in day to day writing for me. I hope others are giving you positive feedback for the changes because the tab button alone is worth its weight in gold!
Small thing I noticed today: I can't use the "Heading" options or use hashtags on tabbed (indented) lines. I have a need for it if you don't mind adding to the list. I know from a MK standpoint it's a serious faux pas instead of having it on it's own line and giving it a Heading, but it you can't' do that can we at least have control over font size to make the new heading stand out more?
Since I use Logseq as my main note taking app, I tend to format things that way and it helps with ease of reading. If I have one or two word headings it can be hard to visually tell the difference between 2 and 3 and 4 when they're all lined up below each other.
ex
H1 HEADING
H2 Heading
- H3 heading
etc.
Thanks!

Hey Michael, thanks again for the feedback, I much prefer users pointing out where we can improve over lots of praise (but a bit of the latter isn't bad!).
Regarding tabbed headers, I've just tested and you're right you can't tab in and then use the ## to set a header level. You can however use the ## then tab, does that achieve what you're looking for?
You can also use the command bar to set the header type once tabbed in.
See the gif below for examples.
If not do let me know!

hey Fred Rivett. I should have been more specific. I'm using bullet points underneath, hence wanting to have the first bullet point be an H2. Then all the bullet points below it can be indented properly (visually) so I don't get lost. Ultimately I would never publish something this way, but I am porting all my ideas over from Logseq and getting them in the correct areas so the AI can help me figure out a way to format the story. So essentially it's just for note taking to help make things visually easier to read but also giving me the ability to fold the H to hide everything below it when i'm not working on that specific bullet point.

Ahh gotcha, sorry for misunderstanding here Michael. So just to confirm, you'd like to be able to format a bullet list item as a header?
I'm not sure if that's a feature we'll look to support soon as it's quite niche and probably not what users expect when they set the formatting of a bullet line to a header (I think they would expect it to break out from the list and be a normal, top level header).
Hopefully we can find a good way for your workflow to be supported though but it might take other forms.
If I've misunderstood (again) just let me know!

Fred Rivett It doesn't necessarily need to be a header. I can always Bold it to have it stand out, but being able to fold it is paramount to being able to use Lex as a workhorse where I can start from and slowly build out what I'm writing. Versus having to keep using Logseq to build it and then copy/paste everything over to then be able to use the AI. using the AI earlier in the process is a huge benefit.

Michael Gotcha, so would collapsible bullet points be a solution that would meet your needs? I'd imagine if we ever added that it would collapse only until the next item beneath of the same level (so if you collapse a second level bullet point it would hide all third/fourth/fifth bullets until the next second level).
Unfortunately collapsing content has some quirks so it isn't a super simple lift, but might be something we could add when we work on the quirks for the header collapsing, to share that functionality with lists. Don't want to make any promises on anything in the short-term though unfortunately!
Out of interest, there's a new feature we've got in the works that we think is useful for spatial thinking, it's probably not an ideal fit for what you describe here but I'm happy to grant you access to our beta trial if you want to give it a whirl? Just let me know.

Fred Rivett Yeah, folding only folds nestled bullets, not same level bullets 👍
Yeah, always love testing out new things!

Sweet, have just enabled the new secret feature for you Michael! You should have an email with instructions there, feel free to email us (hello@lex.page) or on our Pro discord channel with any questions or thoughts, would love to hear what you think (especially the negative stuff so we know what to improve!).
As I say, might not be a direct fit for this issue but is semi-related.
Have updated the title of this request and made a ticket for folding list items.

Fred Rivett Thanks!

Fred Rivett ok, how do I turn off the beta, haha. it's a little too buggy for me to be able to work fluidly and I really don't have a need for that feature.
Fred Rivett
Michael S That’s fair, it’s still a bit rough around the edges! You can turn it off in the settings panel —> 🤫 tab. Let me know if any issues!

Fred Rivett Ah, found it. Thanks!
