With many thanks to the Lex team here's a British English check I use all the time. Add it to the end of the check order so that nothing else checks in US English after;

Thanks for jumping in here Jason! You're totally right that's our best fix currently until we devote more time to solving this, but unfortunately it's actually harder for LLM's to parse dialect differences than language differences as the differences are so minor.
As a fellow Brit we will definitely do this, just got some big things in the pipeline so haven't prioritised it yet! Ahmed K

Thank you for the insights Fred. I can appreciate that it's not a straightforward task to do.
And thanks to Jason for sharing your method.

Agree Pete! As a fellow Brit we want this, it's just a bit more complex to implement than actual languages, so we haven't gotten around to giving it the time it needs yet. Will update when we have more to share!

Hey folks! As a fellow Brit I started looking into this.
The bad news is it's a little more complex than I hoped, it's simpler for AI to understand when text is in an entirely different language than in localised language varities.
The good news is we've created a custom prompt that is working pretty well for us so far. Here's the prompt:
---
Your job is to convert American English orthographic variants to their British English counterparts. If a word is an American English orthographic variant and would be grammatically incorrect in the UK then rewrite to the modern British English equivalent, leave everything else as is. DO NOT REWRITE DATES, LEAVE THEM AS IS.
---
If you're a Lex Pro subscriber then you can create a custom Check in the Prompt Builder panel on the right, and then use that in the Checks panel to correct American English to British English. Obviously feel free to tweak the prompt yourself too and let us know if you've found one that works even better!
I've attached a quick gif showing this in action below:
I'm not marking this ticket as complete as we still want to make British English a first class language option, but in the meantime hopefully this helps some of you out.
Yours sincerely,
Fellow Brit Fred.

As a Brit myself I feel your pain Kai B, will aim to get this one in soon!
