How about an edit my doc feature?

I understand Lex was built to help write source material. But it would be cool for an AI tool to also help edit your copy. Like make it tighter, flow better, you know like Grammarly but powered by GPT-3 which understands the context of your content better.

Hey all - you may have noticed this, but we've since added this as our Checks feature! You can access checks under the command bar (ctrl/cmd+K). In addition to Grammar, you can get suggestions for Brevity, Readability, Passive Voice, etc. or even create a custom Check!

Jiarui Wang: Great work. The explanations are reasonable. I didn't accept all of Lex's suggestions, but the [?] option to see
why
Lex decided to change some things works great. I did try multiple checks at the same time and the results were less than great. Asking to simplify the language and then
remove cliches is not a good idea. Cliches ARE simplified language. Lex ended up editing and correcting Lex's own changes and putting things back the way they were, sort of. Lex would have tried to remove "sort of" in that case for being unnecessary, but our qualifiers make us sound more human.Great add-on, I can remove Grammarly from being in my LEX DOCs and stop going to Hemingway App to fix the readability!
You just streamlined my workflow 20%! Great work.

SHiNER : Love to hear this! And yes, some of the Checks are contradictory. There might be a particular order to run these or maybe some just aren't relevant depending on your goal. We're working on it!

You can do this already! Highlight the part you'd like feedback on, create a comment, and tag @Lex with your question. There's also a shortcut which is the last button on the highlight sidebar.

This is a good idea!

YES, please.

YES! This would be huge for me — I lot of what's holding me back from "allowing" AI to suggest edits is that I'm an editor by training — I need to see the before and after to know whether the edit is hurting or helping. I'm terrified of writing something and asking AI to re-write .... only to find out later that AI
also
rewrote/messed up something else in the document without me noticing. If you're working on track changes one big request — can you make it like Word, where you can have different "views" and you can preview the document (and edit it) with or without the suggestions showing. Google's suggesting mode gets in the way of actual writing/editing, but Word's track changes markup gets out of the way when you want/need it to (while still tracking the changes).
