I hate the 30 messages per day limit, how can we receive all the help we need with just thirty messages? The current design is also unpleasant; it creates a gray text box that lags a lot when we ask Ask Lex. Please give us the option to customize it or at least increase the daily message limit.

Hey folks, thanks for the messages here, just catching up in the new year.
We're aware that it's a tricky balance the free plan limitations and Pro pricing. Ultimately as a company every AI call costs us money, so we're in effect paying free users to use the product, which on average isn't too bad but can surprisingly add up, with some users costing us way more than we'll ever recoup even if they signed up for Lex Pro.
That said we're also aware of the challenges of people from different economies not having the same buying power. In an ideal world we'd add a way for those who from weaker economies to have relative pricing, but it's not a simple thing to add and would require careful setup and monitoring to make sure it wasn't being abused, and with VPN's it would be pretty hard to enforce. Our fixed costs also don't drop when a user is accessing our AI partners from other countries, so we'd need to consider how to balance all of that.
Currently our path is to provide a generous free service, with a competitive pro offering for those who are able and willing. Lex Pro ($12/mo annually) is cheaper than Claude Pro ($20/mo), and ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo), yet gives access to both models as well as a whole host of others, all integrated into the writing experience. If anything we're probably underpricing currently based on our costs and the alternatives available.
As a small startup our biggest focus is on becoming profitable so we can stick around for the long term, which we aim to cross over into this year. That said, we're committed to the free plan always feeling generous so will continue to monitor and tweak as we go to ensure that.
If anyone has any specific enquiries feel free to email us at hello@lex.page.
Appreciate you all using Lex and excited to really revamp your writing experience in 2025!

Fred Rivett Hello friend! Thank you for shedding some light on this; we don’t see you commenting much about your plans, and that gives a bad feeling, as if we’re forgotten in this regard. I totally understand the intention to make a profit, and we support that. The only thing we’d like is to have the chance to purchase the pro plan or at least increase the daily message limit a bit to help us out
We’re very grateful for your services and know it’s worth every penny to invest in what you offer. I haven’t thought much about VPNs or ways to bypass restrictions, and I hope that, in the future, you’ll be able to protect and handle those challenges. Until then, I’d just ask you to reconsider the 30 daily messages and perhaps increase them a little. Sometimes, for example, the model glitches, and we end up needing to resend requests multiple times, so 30 messages don’t always meet our needs effectively
I apologize if I’ve come across as offensive or petty. We live in different realities, and I haven’t fully considered your costs either. We love your services. Happy New Year!

Appreciate the swift and thoughtful reply Brian! And totally fair that people have a wide variety of experiences and abilities to pay, so would ideally be something we can take into account.
Failing messages counting to the limit does sound very frustrating, so is something we should look into. We want to make it a lot easier to resend messages or go back and edit a message if the AI goes off on the wrong tangent, so I'm making an internal ticket for messages with failed replies to not count that we can hopefully include at the same time.
Thank you for your continued use, the more folks who use Lex the more chance we've got at sticking around long-term. Very aware there's
lots
to do still but only so much time in the day for our small team, but you should continue to see improvements over the coming weeks and months!Pricing in general we'll continue to consider and iterate on, hopefully we can find the right balance.

I agree!

I am not sure how the owners of Lex are supposed to keep the service running and improve the tool if people dont think they should pay for it?

Paula M Paula, I’ll try to explain it in another way. I want to pay, but I pay in reais, not in dollars, and when converting the price, it becomes ridiculously expensive. I’m not questioning that they should make everything free, I’m asking if they could offer a fair opportunity for me to pay. The amount I would pay, when converted, is almost 61.27% of my minimum salary. They would make money even from more people if they could adjust this in a fair way for all countries
Or at least increase the message limit, that would be enough

Do you have a pro version? I dont have these issues. It's well worth paying for

Paula M It’s as if it were easy, until today there hasn't been an option for people from other countries to purchase in a currency other than dollars. While you pay $144 annually, in other countries the rate is R$865.20, and it seems like they don’t care how absurd this price is, because people like you only think of yourselves. How can you conclude a proposal from a partner when this limit prevents us from having all the necessary help?

Alisson I am not in the USA and for me the exchange rate is basically double but I cut a bunch of other tools because this one is so good for me.

Paula MI don't know what your country is, but we have different realities, and I don't think that's hard to understand, right? If you can afford to pay double, congratulations, but in my reality, with the minimum wage I earn, 865.20 reais makes a difference. It's somewhat unfair to compare our realities, and it would have been better if they had set a fair price in the currency of my country and yours

Paula M How ignorant, if you can pay double, pay my subscription too
